ChatGPT's GPT-6 update adds interactive charts, diagrams and buttons
OpenAI is adding "Intelligent UI" to ChatGPT with GPT-6. Replies can now mix text with diagrams, charts, forms and tappable buttons. OpenAI's examples include a seven-speed bicycle diagram with clickable parts and a Mahjong tile guide. You can also ask for small tools like a retirement savings calculator or a bill splitter, built inside the reply. Paid tiers get the mid-range GPT-6 Sol model starting today. Free and Go users get the more efficient GPT-6 Luna on Thursday. OpenAI also claims better web search and stronger resistance to attempts to bypass safety training.
Why it mattersYou can now ask ChatGPT for a working tool instead of an explanation, which is a real change in how you might use it.

First Nvidia RTX Spark laptops cost from $2,599 to nearly $7,000
The first RTX Spark laptops are aimed squarely at high-end MacBook Pros. The Surface Laptop Ultra, plus models from Dell, Lenovo, MSI, HP and Asus, start around $2,599 with 24GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage. That's close to a similarly specced 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 Pro, though Apple includes 1TB of storage. Maxing out memory pushes the price up fast: an Asus ProArt P16 with 128GB and 2TB costs up to $6,999.99. Expensive laptops aren't new, but these target creators and people running local AI. Launches begin as early as October 16th.
Why it mattersYou should expect to pay Mac-Pro-level money for the memory that makes local AI worthwhile on these machines.

Copilot will get access to your local files and Windows actions
Microsoft showed a Copilot upgrade built on what it calls "Hybrid Intelligence," a mix of local and cloud AI models. In an on-stage demo, an agent found tax documents across folders, renamed them, zipped them and drafted an email to an accountant with the zip attached. Microsoft's Jacob Andreou said these features arrive in Copilot over the "next couple months." Windows also gets a search bar that handles quick actions like toggling dark mode, adjusting mic volume with a slider, or sending a text. That arrives this fall on Windows 11.
Why it mattersYou'd be letting an AI agent rummage through your files, so watch what permissions it asks for when it ships.

OpenAI says ChatGPT's new Intelligent UI will make learning easier
OpenAI says Intelligent UI is meant to make complex topics easier to learn and to help people get things done. In a demo, a product manager asked how an airplane wing generates lift, and ChatGPT quickly produced several diagrams. Other examples included recipe visuals, a multi-day hiking map and a savings calculator. Users can turn the visuals down, as with other aspects of ChatGPT's personality. It rolls out with GPT-6 to Pro, Plus, Business and Enterprise users on Wednesday, and to free and Go users on Thursday.
Why it mattersYou can dial back the visuals if you prefer plain text, so this won't force a new style on you.
